Because most people are multi-faceted and multi-dimensional, beyond my day job, I also like to indulge in and develop my other passions in life. Below are some amateur videos I’ve done over the years, personal projects done with a point-and-shoot camera and zero budget.
XMAS-NEW YEAR 2019 DIVE
Anilao, Batangas is the diving capital of the Philippines and my spiritual home. I make it a point to go home every year over the Yuletide holidays to indulge my dive addiction and to reconnect with diving friends whom I’ve known for over 20 years.
SCUBA DIVING IN PALAU
I’m an avid scuba diver and can easily say it is one of my two first loves (the first being writing). Here are a couple of videos from a trip I took in 2012. All footage shot using my humble Canon S100 and edited on Apple iMovie.
“Wow, Palau!”
Palau’s reputation as an underwater paradise is well-deserved as you will see in this simple mini-movie that showcases the highlights of our 5-day trip during the fall of 2012 which was just the start of the manta season.
“Manta Moments”
The main attraction during Palau’s high season.
aidha MICRO-BUSINESS SCHOOL CORPORATE VIDEO
In 2009 while waiting to go to school in Beijing, I started volunteering for aidha, a Singapore-based NGO that provides computer skills, financial literacy and entrepreneurship courses to domestic helpers. This was the very first project I did for them that landed me the title, “Video Developer Intern” and got me formally hired to be part of their staff (complete with stipend). Again, this was shot using my old Olympus mu camera, with no video, audio or editing equipment whatsoever except my trusty MacBook and iMovie software.
慢慢讲 (“Speak Slowly”) Speak Good Mandarin 2011 ORIGINAL SONG COMPOSITION ENTRY
Composed a whole song entirely in Mandarin and using han zi characters shortly after my year-long stay in China. Lyrics and melody were by yours truly. Instrumentation, recording and mixing were done by professionals at a studio in Singapore and sung by a local singer. We didn’t win but it was a great experience over all especially as it was a lot of fun!
